YMD Boon is proud to announce the commencement of work on the significant redevelopment of the Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex (GMLC) in Boston, Lincolnshire. Appointed by Pulse Design & Build Ltd, we are delivering multidisciplinary services to transform and revitalise this important community facility.

The first stage of the project is now underway, with initial enabling works including the creation of a temporary access road, internal reconfigurations, and preparations for relocating the pool’s reception area. This ambitious redevelopment will bring long-term improvements to support health, wellbeing, and inclusive access to high-quality leisure provision for the Boston community.

The GMLC, offering a range of swimming and fitness facilities, will undergo significant remodelling and extension. Key elements of the works include the demolition of the existing public changing and reception areas and the construction of a brand-new two-storey extension. This new addition will provide a welcoming foyer, reception, and modern changing village on the ground floor, with a gym, flexible accommodation, and a viewing gallery located above. Importantly, the two existing pools will be connected through the new extension, enhancing accessibility and operational flow.

Externally, the project will also transform the surrounding environment. The car park will be extended with controlled access points introduced, and the existing wall will be opened up to create vibrant new views into the pool areas.

This redevelopment forms part of Towns Deal Funding and a wider vision to strengthen community facilities in Boston, working in collaboration with Boston College and the new Mayflower Building opposite the GMLC. Together, the two complexes will be intrinsically linked by a new public plaza, enhancing connectivity between leisure and education facilities and creating a dynamic new public realm for the town. The new plaza will be undertaken with the leisure centre improvements.

Shari Setayesh, Director at YMD Boon, said: "We are delighted to be supporting Boston Borough Council in delivering the transformation of Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex. This project not only modernises vital community leisure facilities but also reinforces Boston’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents through health, wellbeing, and education.

Work on the redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2026.
