The Mayflower at Boston College has been shortlisted in the Public Sector category at the RICS Awards 2026.

YMD Boon is delighted to announce that The Mayflower at Boston College has been shortlisted in Public Sector category at the RICS Awards in the East Midlands Region.

The Public Sector category recognises exemplary projects that deliver lasting value to communities through innovation, design quality, and social impact.

Designed by YMD Boon, The Mayflower is a vibrant, multi-use learning hub that redefines the college environment. At its heart is a spacious central atrium, designed to foster collaboration and a strong sense of community. The building’s distinctive architectural features draw inspiration from the historic Mayflower ship’s return to Boston, expressed through the elliptical form of the upturned beam structure to create a striking and symbolic focal point.

Shari Setayesh, Director & Architect at YMD Boon, said:
“We are delighted that The Mayflower has been recognised by the prestigious RICS Awards. This project was driven by a shared ambition with Boston College to create an inspiring learning environment. The design celebrates both the college’s future and its connection to local heritage, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see it making a positive impact on students, staff, and the wider community.”

The RICS Awards showcase the very best of the built environment across the UK, highlighting outstanding projects and teams that deliver meaningful change. East Midlands winners will be announced at the upcoming ceremony at Crowne Plaza in Nottingham on Friday 17th July, with those selected going on to compete at the UK Grand Final on 22nd October 2026.

The Mayflower is one of 14 projects shortlisted in the East Midlands, and one of four in the Public Sector category. Find out more about the shortlisted projects here.
