Project Brief: Replacement of dilapidated mobile classroom

Funding: Condition Improvement Fund (CIF)

Services: Building Surveying, Contract Administration, Project Management

We were appointed by Rise Multi-Academy Trust to prepare and submit a Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bid to demolish a 40-year-old dilapidated mobile classroom at Barlestone C of E Primary School and replace it with a new modular building.

The existing mobile classroom was installed as a second-hand building over 25 years ago. The mobile was in an extremely poor state of repair and was exhibiting some major defects both structurally and health-related due to damp and mould.

We assisted the school by pulling together all the documentation for the CIF Bid process, which included a condition survey, proposed plans, project programme, risk register, contractor quotation, cost plan and a cashflow forecast.

We were successful in securing approximately £242k of funding for the school’s project.

Over a period of 8 weeks, we replaced the existing building with a new, bespoke SIPS building with a traditional solid concrete floor slab and internal finishes. The facilities included a new EYFS classroom, toilets and ancillary teaching spaces.

The new building provides a modern environment for teaching and learning as well as a dry and secure internal environment.
