Project Brief: Demolish mobile classroom and construct a new two classroom modular building

Funding: Condition Improvement Fund (CIF)

Services: Building Surveying, Contract Administration, Project Management

We were appointed by Robert Bakewell Primary School, part of the Loughborough Primary Academy Partnership, to prepare and submit a Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bid to demolish an existing 30-year-old timber dilapidated mobile classroom and erect a new two classroom modular building connected to an existing modular block constructed circa 5 years ago.

We assisted the school by preparing all the documentation for the CIF Bid process, which included a condition survey, proposed plans, project programme, risk register, contractor quotations, cost plan and a cashflow forecast.

We were successful in securing over £410k of funding for the school’s project.

Over a period of 12 weeks, we built the new modular block which included two new classrooms with wet area facilities; cloaks area; toilet facilities, a staff room, a plant room, and stores with a tarmac path to the perimeter of the building. We ensured the new modular block was in keeping with the existing building in terms of size, proportionality, and physical appearance.

The new building was located to a different area of the site (adjacent to the other year groups) to allow better integration with other pupils to raise standards and enhance safeguarding.

The new building provides a modern environment for teaching and learning as well as a dry and secure internal environment with disabled access to the building.
