Rolls-Royce Manufacturing Services Facility

YMD Boon has been appointed as CDM Principal Designer, Building Regulations Principal Designer and Technical Advisor for a new manufacturing services facility at Rolls-Royce’s Sinfin A campus in Derby. The development forms part of a £140 million investment in the campus and Rolls-Royce’s wider £300 million UK investment programme.

The project involves the redevelopment of approximately six acres of existing buildings and infrastructure to accommodate two new facilities. These include a 3,300m² manufacturing services building, providing workspace for approximately 90 employees, and a 10,500m² engineering building, accommodating around 230 employees. Together, the facilities will support Rolls-Royce’s manufacturing, engineering, technology and safety operations.

The Sinfin A campus plays an important role in Rolls-Royce’s Civil Aerospace operations, supporting the design, engineering and advanced manufacturing of Trent aircraft engines. The new development will enhance the campus’s existing capabilities, providing modern facilities to improve operational efficiency and support future growth.

As Principal Designer under both CDM and Building Regulations, YMD Boon is supporting the project team in managing health and safety risks, coordinating design-stage compliance and ensuring regulatory requirements are considered throughout the development.

The investment represents a significant commitment to the future of UK aerospace manufacturing, strengthening Rolls-Royce’s capabilities and supporting continued innovation within the sector.
