School Expansion

YMD Boon has been appointed by LiFE Academy Trust to deliver the expansion of Ibstock School, increasing capacity for pupils aged 11–16 from 725 to 900. Providing full design services from RIBA Stages 0–7, the project supports both immediate and future growth.

The scheme includes a single-storey extension to relocate the nursery, enabling demolition of the existing building and creating space for a new two-storey teaching block. This will provide six classrooms, a science laboratory, multi-purpose teaching space, a drama studio/theatre, and associated facilities. A new nursery drop-off and dedicated staff parking are also being introduced, creating a separate access from the main school.

At feasibility stage, YMD Boon developed a masterplan exploring options to meet the current Published Admission Number (PAN) of 145, alongside future expansion to 180 and 210. This included net capacity assessments, curriculum zoning, concept designs, and budget estimates. The study secured full funding approval from the local authority.

Through ongoing stakeholder engagement and a public consultation, we are ensuring the development remains well-coordinated.
