School Building Replacement

YMD Boon has been appointed to design and deliver a new classroom development at Wigston Academy in Leicestershire for Wigston Academies Trust. The project will replace an existing 1990s single-storey classroom block with a modern, fit-for-purpose teaching facility.

The new building will provide high-quality classroom spaces, alongside unisex toilets, storage areas, and staff welfare facilities, creating an improved environment for both students and staff. The scheme has been carefully designed to enhance functionality, accessibility, and overall user experience.

YMD Boon successfully secured Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) funding for the project as part of the 2025/26 funding round. Following approval, we were appointed to deliver full services including Architecture, Project Management, Contract Administration, and Principal Designer roles.

R1 Construction has been appointed as the main contractor, continuing a strong working relationship with Wigston Academies Trust. This builds on previous successful projects, including the award-shortlisted science building replacement at Wigston Academy and ongoing works at Wigston College, demonstrating a consistent and collaborative delivery approach.
