Project Brief: New leisure centre complex

Working closely with Henry Riley and Willmott Dixon, YMD Boon were appointed to provide architectural services to design and deliver a new two-storey leisure centre in Bingham, Nottinghamshire.
The 5,500 square metre development, known as Bingham Arena, includes a 25m competition pool with 330 spectator seating to accommodate swimming competitions and will provide a valuable resource for local schools and swimming groups.
The facility also includes a 13 x 7-metre learning pool, a café, two exercise studios, a spin studio, a fitness gym and changing room facilities, as well as car parking for 207 people with 12 additional accessible spaces.
The development also includes a 260 square metre community hall, which can accommodate 300 people and features a fixed stage area with dedicated changing facilities, a control room, kitchen and storage.
The centre provides the town and surrounding areas with an excellent community facility, helping to create jobs, promote healthier lifestyles and contribute to the growth of the area.
Adjacent to the leisure centre is Bingham Enterprise Centre, comprising of 12 new self-contained office suites over two floors.
